My latest pattern design…

November 22, 2012 by flutterfromkat@live.com 16 Comments

A few weeks ago I decided I wanted to make myself a new bag…
I had a picture in my head of what I wanted it to look like, but I could not find a pattern I liked for love nor money {don’t you hate that!}
So…
I got my pen & paper out, worked my brain over time and I finally came up with a design looking somewhat similar to that in my head.

You may remember the quilt-as-you-go panel I was working on a few weeks ago…

The start of a new project... All for me for a change :)

Well it was added to with a panel for the other side…

And the other side :)

And I got busy making myself a new bag:

Love love love my new bag!

My new bag... Totally love this one. Think I might write a pattern for it. #instacollage

And the bag/zipper tag

{Sorry the photos are so dreadful – I haven’t had a chance to take any photos with my “proper” camera yet, so these are just from my ipad}.

I also ended up making a trial version first because I wasn’t brave enough to try my new pattern for the first time with my lovely quilted panel.
But after all that I didn’t end up changing a thing and I almost love my “trial” version just as much:

The prototype I made last night... Love the prototype too and in the end didn't change a thing.#instacollage

I have been using my one for about a week now and
I LOVE it!!!

Here we are together to show the scale…

Me & my new bag

I have to come up with a name for it yet (feel free to help me out) but I plan to write up a pattern for this one to sell because it is such a use able size.
The perfect size to stuff the hundreds of little “kiddy” extras that I end up carrying around in. You know the ones: shoes, drink bottles, discarded clothing, fairy wands, random toys, art etc etc…

It has 2 internal pockets which I love because I can put my phone & keys in one and my purse in the other. It also has a zipper at the top of the bag so that things don’t spill on out of it when my children decide to pick it up by the bottom of the bag…
There are also some darts at the bottom for a bit of extra shape/style.

So that’s my latest project…
I can imagine it a bunch of different ways and can’t wait to have fun making some more.
What do you think?

Looks great, I have just bought a sewing machine so I need to get it out and starting making some things.

I am giving away a month planner, meal planner and shopping list pad and pencil for the fridge if you want to check it out http://takeshapefitness.blogspot.com.au/
